Interviews 1st round: 21st - 23rd November (via Teams)
Interviews 2nd round: 28th November – 2nd December, in person, in the Wilder Marches area.
The ‘Wilder Marches’ is a major new cross-border initiative by The Wildlife Trusts to bring about nature’s recovery at landscape scale in this stunning area of the Welsh Marches: one programme, two countries, three major river catchments, and four Wildlife Trusts: Herefordshire, Montgomeryshire, Radnorshire and Shropshire.
We have now secured funding for a two-year development phase to establish partnerships, to work up detailed plans, and to secure funding and investment to expand the programme and ensure its long-term future. We are looking for an exceptional individual to lead the programme on behalf of the four Wildlife Trusts. You will need substantial experience of planning and delivering major projects, with very strong interpersonal and influencing skills, and a sound understanding of both farming and conservation. We would welcome applicants from the farming, land management, conservation or related sectors.
As the Wilder Marches Programme Manager, you’ll drive nature recovery at landscape scale in the Wilder Marches area by establishing a dynamic and effective partnership and initiating projects which will be financially self-sustaining in the long run.

About The Wildlife Trusts
Our purpose is to bring wildlife back, to empower people to take meaningful action for nature, and to create an inclusive society where nature matters.
Our vision is of a thriving natural world, with our wildlife and natural habitats playing a valued role in addressing the climate and ecological emergencies, and everyone inspired and to get involved in nature’s recovery.
We value passion, respect, trust, integrity, strength in diversity, and pragmatic activism. Whilst we are passionate in promoting our aims, we are not judgemental and are inclusive. We want our people to be as diverse as nature, so we particularly encourage applications from people who are underrepresented within our sector, including people from minority backgrounds and people with disabilities. We are committed to creating a movement that recognises and truly values individual differences and identities.
As a Disability Confident employer, we are committed to offering an interview to anyone with a disability that meets all the essential criteria for the post. Please let us know if you require any adjustments to make our recruitment process more accessible.
The Company
Shropshire Wildlife Trust (SWT) works across Shropshire (including Telford & Wrekin) to confront the ‘triple emergency’ of climate crisis, ecological crisis, and people’s inequitable connection with nature. We combine advocacy and campaigning with projects to restore nature and to engage people. We manage 41 nature reserves, and we have 46 staff, 500 volunteers, and over 9000 members. SWT is an autonomous charity, but we are increasingly working collectively as part of The Wildlife Trusts (TWT) to ensure that our local actions have a national impact and help to address global issues.
